Good morning Pickswise Nation and welcome to Wise n’ Shine, your one-stop shop for everything you need to know to bet better today!

Thursday night was a great one for Pickswise, but Friday should be just as entertaining with a whole host of MLB playoff games and some college football action. Let’s dive into it!

About Last Night

Big night for Pickswise in NFL and MLB
Last night was a great night for the Pickswise Nation. On Thursday Night Football, we cashed our Rams -2 pick against the Seahawks as well as our +595 same game parlay, while our MLB playoffs hot streak continued. Across the White Sox/Astros and Red Sox/Rays games, we went a perfect 4-0 with our side and total picks and cashed our +454 parlay. We have now nailed three parlays in a row in baseball, so make sure you check out today’s here.

Today’s Slate

Bumper day of MLB playoffs action
Baseball fans rejoice, as we have FOUR playoff games to look forward to, with every single team in action. Here at Pickswise, we offer picks on the side and total for every matchup, from the White Sox vs Astros game at 2pm ET all the way through the huge battle between the Dodgers and Giants at 9.30 pm ET. Our MLB playoffs record is currently 7-0-1, so don’t miss out on today’s picks.

College Football continues
Week 6 of the NCAAF season resumes tonight with a couple of intriguing matchups. The Cincinnati Bearcats look to continue their case for a playoff spot when they host Temple, while the Stanford Cardinal — who just knocked off Oregon last week — will meet Arizona State. Read our picks for those games and all the big Saturday college football matchups here.

Best Bet of the Day

Houston Astros ML vs Chicago White Sox
2:07 pm ET, MLB Network

The Astros picked up an easy win over the White Sox in Game 1 of their ALDS series on Thursday, and they should be able to replicate that success in Game 2. For starters they are going with Framber Valdez, who is coming off a great season in which he had a 3.14 ERA. Valdez certainly isn’t afraid of this big stage either. He pitched 24.0 innings in the playoffs last year and had a stellar 1.88 ERA. The lefty should be quite comfortable. Read our full preview for today’s game.

Must-watch

Make sure you check out the latest episode of Pickswise Playbook, our great weekly NFL betting show, with Chris Rose, Ross Tucker, and Jared Smith all giving their best bets for the Week 5 slate.

And don’t forget to watch our awesome daily betting show Let’s Bet It! with regular hosts Jared Smith, Lauren Jbara, and Alex Glaze. Jared, Alex, and special guest John Hyslop went 3-0 with their best bets yesterday, so make sure you’re not missing out on their wisdom.

Must-read

Make sure you read our reaction to Thursday Night Football, in which Andrew Ortenberg wasn’t impressed with either team. Meanwhile, our sports betting analyst Jared Smith has his best bets for Week 5 of the NFL season, and Ricky Dimon has come up with a three-team college football parlay for tonight’s action.

Be sure to head over to the Analysis tab for even more great betting content.

Stat of the Day

Braves pitcher Charlie Morton has an 8-3 record in 15 starts away from Atlanta, with a 3.06 ERA while holding hitters to a .185 batting average.

Boost of the day

Colorado Avalanche to win the 2021-22 NHL Presidents’ Trophy

The Avalanche lifted the Presidents’ Trophy (for the best NHL regular-season record) last season, and you can get +330 with FanDuel for them to do it again (boosted from +250). Our hockey expert Chris Rivers is hot on the Avalanche this year in our 2021-22 NHL season preview, so it could be Colorado’s time.
