Good morning Pickswise Nation and welcome to Wise n’ Shine, your one-stop shop for everything you need to know to bet better today!

Week 2 of the NFL season began with a wild affair on Thursday Night Football and a full Sunday slate is rapidly approaching. For now, however, college football is taking center stage on Saturday. There are also a handful of MLB matchups that have playoff implications, so an exciting day in the sports world is on tap. Let’s get straight to it!

About Last Night

Louisville wins at last second
Week 3 in college football is off to a solid start for Pickswise Nation, as we are 2-1 against the spread and 2-1 on game totals through Thursday’s and Friday’s action. That is in part thanks to Louisville, which beat UCF outright as a +6.5 underdog last night. The Cardinals did so in dramatic fashion, too, breaking a tie with a defensive score with just 13 seconds left in the game. Jaylin Alderman returned an interception 66 yards for a touchdown, giving Louisville a 42-35 victory.

How will the West be won?
The Giants extend their NL West lead over the Dodgers to 2 games following an incredible 6-5 win over the Braves in 11 innings. San Francisco squandered a 2-run advantage by giving up 3 in the top of the ninth, tied it with a homer while down to its last strike, and then won it in the 11th on a sacrifice fly by pitcher-turned-pinch-hitter Kevin Gausman. The Dodgers, meanwhile, lost to fellow wild-card contender Cincinnati 3-1. Our 3-star under play cashed easily in that game. San Fran is now -150 to win the division; L.A. is +120.

Today’s Slate

Week 3 in college football takes center stage
What will Saturday’s college football schedule do for an encore following the Louisville vs UCF theatrics? There should be plenty of excitement with three all-Top 25 showdowns (including Alabama vs Florida) headlining the action. Check out our picks for the side and total for today’s games.

But wait, there’s more….
As if college football does not sufficiently whet your appetite by itself, there is also baseball, soccer, golf, and UFC on Saturday’s menu. In addition to a full 15-game MLB slate, our Pickswise experts have covered 6 English Premier League contests, 8 Major League Soccer games, and 6 fights on the UFC192 card. Check out our picks for all of today’s MLB action here.

Best Bet of the Day

Pittsburgh Panthers -15 vs Western Michigan Broncos
12:00pm ET

Western Michigan has faced one decent program this season and got humiliated 47-0 by Michigan. Pittsburgh’s offense has been rolling so far. The Panthers beat Tennessee 41-34 last week, when quarterback Kenny Pickett threw for 285 yards and 2 touchdowns to go along with 19 rushing yards and another score. He has not yet turned the ball over in 2021. Check out our full preview of the game.

Stat of the Day

Since joining the Dodgers, Max Scherzer is sporting a 0.88 ERA with a 0.67 WHIP. He has not allowed an earned run in 22.0 September innings. The Reds are 4-14 in their last 18 games when they score 4 runs or fewer, and it’s certainly hard to see them scoring more than 4 runs against Scherzer and the Dodgers.

Boost of the day

Notre Dame, Cincinnati, and Oklahoma all to win

We’re looking at a 3-team college football money line parlay at FanDuel Sportsbook, which has boosted the odds from +115 to +160. Notre Dame (vs Purdue), Cincinnati (at Indiana), and Oklahoma (vs Nebraska) are all favored by more than a field goal. The Sooners (-22) are pretty much locks, so this comes down to ND and Cincy taking care of business.
