After tonight, there is just one more Friday remaining in the MLB regular season. Several series have playoff implications and with under 10 games left, there is very little room for error. Plenty of teams have already been forced to play playoff baseball and that is how this final week will feel. Even fans of eliminated teams can take interest in the chaos that has and will continue to ensue. This will be a great weekend of baseball. If you’re looking to have some betting action, check out our MLB mega parlay at +940 odds below. You can also read our MLB predictions for picks on every game today.

Chicago Cubs ML over Colorado Rockies & Over 9.5 (+245)

Since September 7, the Cubs are 2-10 and the playoff spot they have been occupying is now in jeopardy. The good news for Chicago is they are far and away the better team in this game. The Rockies have been the worst team in the NL this season and they will get the Cubs’ A+ effort. This is a great bounce-back spot for the Cubs.

Starting for the Rockies will be Noah Davis, who has had 6 outings since being called up. Those 6 outings have not gone great as Davis has allowed 22 earned runs in 20.2 innings pitched. He makes for a favorable matchup for most offenses in baseball right now, let alone against a productive one like Chicago’s. The Cubs’ lineup should do their part in contributing to a high total. On the other side of the ball, the Cubs’ pitching has been getting shelled lately and is vulnerable to a high number as well.

Atlanta Braves -1.5 over Washington Nationals (-148)

The Braves, like the Cubs, really need to break out of a slump. Atlanta’s playoff spot is safe, so a bounceback is not as essential as it is for the Cubs. But the last thing the Braves want to do after a fantastic regular season is to limp into the postseason in poor form. They would rather be entering October peaking and playing their best baseball. The Braves are the best team in baseball and have a great matchup against a bad team to run up the score and get back on track.

If the lineups and overall depth did not already, the starting pitching matchup very much favors the Braves. Charlie Morton will start for Atlanta and Patrick Corbin will start for Washington. Morton’s results have been up and down season but overall are positive. Even pushing 40 years old, Morton has plenty of upside to take care of business against the Nationals. His counterpart Corbin has an ERA over 5 for the 3rd season in a row and is facing arguably the best lineup in baseball. This one should be all Braves.

Kansas City Royals vs Houston Astros Under 8.5 (-125)

The total has gone under in 4 out of the Royals’ last 5 games on the road, as well as in 6 out of the Astros’ last 9 games. Friday’s starting pitching matchup sets up to reinforce those unders trends. Cole Ragans will start for the Royals and Framber Valdez will start for the Astros. Ragans has been a revelation for the Royals. He has worked primarily out of the bullpen this year but has been stellar as a starter. Ragans has a 3.33 ERA in 10 starts and has one blip on the radar since mid-July.

For the Astros, Framber Valdez has been a model for consistency over the years and this year is no different. Valdez has a 3.20 ERA and 183 strikeouts in 188.2 innings pitched. Valdez has pitched 7 innings in each of his last 3 games and has allowed a total of 4 earned runs. Since August 1st, he has gone at least 7 innings in 8 out of his last 9 starts. Valdez should be just what the Astros need at the right time and shut down the Royals, keeping this game total low.
