We’ve got a solid eight games for this Sunday NBA slate, and one of the best ones is this early game on ABC between the Boston Celtics and New Orleans Pelicans. Both of these teams have quite a bit of offensive star-power. Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram vs. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, which young duo will emerge victorious here? We just cashed an NBA same game parlay at 16/1 the other night, let’s do it again.

What better way to make this nationally televised showdown even more entertaining than by betting a same game parlay? We’ve also got thoughts on the side and total, which you can find out in our full game preview.

Boston Celtics to win by 11+ (+280)

Zion Williamson to score 30+ points (+225)

Parlay odds: +1505

We’ve got a two-leg parlay here, one which pays out north of 15/1 with FanDuel Sportsbook. We get a big odds boost by combining a big Celtics win with a big Williamson scoring night, when I certainly don’t think those two things conflict much at all. Let me explain:

Boston Celtics to win by 11+ (+280)

I’m not sure why oddsmakers have made this game so close, when I think the Celtics have a clear advantage. They definitely haven’t played their best ball yet, but they’re coming off a 12-point win over the Hawks and each of their past three wins have come by at least 12. When you look at New Orleans, nine of their last 11 losses have come by double digits, so I’m not really too concerned about playing this alt line.

The Pels simply can’t get a stop on defense, and they just gave up 132 to the Suns in their most recent game. That was just a few games after giving up 143 to Dallas. With a defense that truly has no floor, they’re a threat to lose by a large margin at any given time. They’ve also just lost five of their last six overall and look defeated after a brief resurgence. The Celtics bury them here.

Zion Williamson to score 30+ points (+225)

We get the huge odds boost here by combining this with the Celtics. When you look at Willamson’s game log, it becomes clear there’s little correlation between his scoring and the Pelicans winning, but that’s how oddsmakers are treating it. Williamson has scored at least 31 in three of his past five, and had 29 in the game before that, so I think there’s standalone value on this bet getting +225 in what should be a high scoring game.

But the real value lies in this ridiculous odds boost we get here. Williamson has scored at least 30 points seven times this season. The Pelicans are 3-4 in those games, and in three of those four losses they’ve been defeated by at least 13 points. He’s averaging a whopping 3.4 points per game more in losses than in wins this season, so if anything the correlation is in our favor here.
