The Cowboys are rolling along nicely enough with 4 wins in their last 5 games (although they should have won the other game against the Packers too) but are still 2 games behind the Eagles. The Indianapolis Colts will be playing on a short week of rest when they visit the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football. A short week only adds insult to injury, as Indianapolis would have its hands full against Dallas even on normal rest. Matt Ryan arguably looked the oldest he has at any point in 2022 — or ever — and Jonathan Taylor was held in check by Pittsburgh for the most part.
If the Steelers can handle the Colts’ offense with relative ease, just think what the Cowboys can do on Sunday night. Dallas is 7th in total defense, #1 against the pass and #1 by a mile in sacks (45). This is a disastrous matchup for immobile quarterback such as Ryan. The Cowboys know the visitors’ only chance is to keep the ball on the ground and they will be stacking the box to overplay the run all night. Indianapolis is 2-5 ATS in its last 7 on the road. The Cowboys are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 overall, 4-1 ATS in their last 5 at home and 13-3 ATS in their last 16 against opponents with losing records. Colts vs Cowboys Over/Under totals pick: Under 44.5 (-110)
This is a horrendous matchup for Matt Ryan and the Indy offense. Dallas has limited 4 opponents this year to no more than 10 points — including just 3 for Minnesota. Now the ‘Boys face a Colts offense that is 7th-to-last overall in the NFL, 6th-to-last in yards per play and 3rd-to-last in scoring. The combination of the spread and total indicates that bookmakers are projecting right around a 27-17 win for Dallas. Do I see Indianapolis scoring 17 points on Sunday night? Absolutely not.
