I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. After a great 10-game Friday night, we went 1-1 targeting 2 skaters in black and yellow. Sidney Crosby almost never lets us down, and will be in action again tonight. I’ll 100% personally be targeting his assist prop again knowing it will hit tonight instead, but we still have 2 other player props we love for today’s games. We have another theme as well. We’re targeting 2 skaters with names that start with M, have interesting last names and wear green. With that in mind, let’s use them to earn you some green today as well.

Along with our player props, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

Mats Zuccarello over 0.5 assists (-150)

The first of our targets is a skater we’ve focused on in the past as well. Before we dive in, we love Kirill Kaprizov to record multiple points tonight, but we target him quite often. Therefore, we’re going to pivot just a bit with a play with love just as much. Kaprizov going off certainly helps Zuccarello hit this assist prop as well. Ironically, it was Kaprizov who dished out a helper for Zuccarello’s goal last night. The script should flip tonight in what is usually the case for that duo. Kaprizov is the one with 17 goals, while Zuccarello has already notched 17 assists.

He had 55 of them last season, and now gets to face a team he feasts on. Zuccarello had 3 assists in 3 games against the Vancouver Canucks last season, and had another in their first meeting this season. Although the Wild are on the road this time around, the Canucks goaltending has gone downhill since their first matchup. They’re allowing the 8th-most goals per game in the last month, the 5th-most at home, and 3rd-most overall. Zuccarello has 6 points across his last 2 games against the Canucks, and we expect a classic Zuccarello assist to Kaprizov goal again tonight.

Miro Heiskanen over 0.5 assists (-120)

Next up is an even tougher last name to nail down. Miro Heiskanen of the Dallas Stars is having yet another strong season. He too has a main goalscoring partner in Jason Robertson. Look for a big night from Robertson as well, as he’s been pointless for the last 2 games, which is an extreme rarity for the youngster. Regardless, a big game from him should be kick-started by Heiskanen. Miro notched 2 goals in the Stars’ most recent game. However, he should revert to his normal role in terms of assisting Robertson and company.

Even after those goals on Thursday night, 16 of Heiskanen’s 21 points have been assists. Much like Zuccarello, he has feasted on his opponent for today’s game. The Stars don’t face the Detroit Red Wings often, but Heiskanen had 3 assists over 2 games against them last season. It also helps that he’s virtually always on the ice. He’s a defenseman so he skates along all of the Dallas line combinations and averages 25:16 minutes of ice time per game. That’s the 5th-most in the NHL, and he’s also on the first power-play unit. The Stars have an afternoon game today, so be sure to lock this play in before puck drop.
