Dallas hasn’t had much luck on the second night of back-to-backs this season — can the Mavericks turn things around tonight in Atlanta? You can watch the game live from 6:00 pm ET on NBA TV, and I’ve prepared a Same Game Parlay to spice things up a bit.

Trae Young to score 30+ points (+145)

Going up against a below-average defender such as Kyrie Irving should benefit Trae Young. He is averaging 29.6 points per game in the last 5 meetings against him, clearing the 30-point mark 3 times and scoring 28 and 21 in the other games. In the most recent meetings he put up 36 and 33 points when Irving was still with the Nets. Scoring just 10 points in the loss against Brooklyn on Friday was very uncharacteristic of Young but that was his second game in a row with under 20 points and now the oddsmakers are giving us really solid odds for a 30-point performance. A bounce-back game is to be expected in front of a packed State Farm Arena and in a nationally televised game, as the Hawks are still pretty much in the running for the 7th seed. Since the All-Star break Dallas ranks in the bottom 10 in defensive rating, and we saw a defense-first guy in Jimmy Butler torch them for 35 points last night. I have no doubt Young can do the same against a team playing on the second night of a back-to-back.

Kyrie Irving 3+ made threes (-195)

Kyrie Irving went just 1-for-4 from three-point land last night, but his luck should turn around tonight as he faces a team whose number he’s had for quite some time now. The Hawks are allowing over 40% of makes from distance in their last 3 games which has resulted in quite a few high-scoring games lately. Trae Young also isn’t that good of a defender, so Irving is likely to have a huge scoring game. He has successfully cleared this line in 3 straight against Young’s team, knocking down 7, 5 and 5 threes as a member of the Brooklyn Nets. In fact, in 31 career games against Atlanta Kyrie is averaging exactly 3 threes per game on 43.5% efficiency, those numbers are really confidence-inspiring. He can continue his solid streak.

Sunday’s NBA mega parlay has +1116 odds!

Luka Doncic over 8.5 assists (+110)

And finally, I have Luka Doncic dishing out 9 assists. It promises to be a high-scoring game with the projected total being set at a whopping 242.5 points, so just like last night Luka should be able to clear his line. He’s averaging 8.5 dimes over his last 10 games, and by now he has probably realized that scoring 40 points won’t get his team far if others don’t step up. Last night the Mavs had only 2 other players scoring in double-digits alongside Doncic, so he has to do a better job getting everyone involved. Atlanta’s defense has allowed 120+ points in 4 of their last 5 games and opposing players’ stats often benefit when playing them as they don’t run into much resistance. I’m hoping that’s the case for the Dallas role players tonight as well, Doncic has to find them for open looks otherwise the Mavs’ postseason chances are doomed.
