Will this be the week that the Philadelphia Eagles finally slip up? Probably not. However, the Commanders deserve more respect than the 10.5-point spread would indicate. They’re 2-1 under Taylor Heinecke straight up and nearly pulled off an upset over expected NFC playoff team Minnesota Vikings. Despite losing both starting ILBs, they’ve actually become better at defending the run.

The Commanders have given up only 21 rush attempts per game over the last 3 games (3rd overall), the fewest rushing first downs per game over the L3 (3.3), and 4th-fewest yards per attempt (3.6) over the L3. Jon Bostic and Jamon Davis will continue to man the middle on Monday night for Washington in hopes of slowing down this Philadelphia offense. The Eagles will be missing nickel CB Avonte Maddox, so Josiah Scott will get the start. The Commanders will be welcoming back with open arms rookie WR Jahan Dotson, who has not played since Week 4.

Curtis Samuel over 40.5 receiving yards (-114)

With Jahan Dotson returning, I think it is a bump to Curtis Samuel’s stock. Through the first 4 games with Dotson in the lineup, Samuel was on his way to the best season of his career. He averaged 54.7 yards per game and 6 receptions per game in that span. He also scored twice through those first 4 games. The big play here is Josiah Scott stepping into that nickel CB role for Philadelphia. He’s averaging a passer rating of 127.5 when targeted. Samuel has still hit this line in 3 straight games, but a little less attention from the defense should help get him more targets than the 5 per game he’s been seeing of late. I’ll have this for 1.5U.

Lock in our Commanders vs Eagles best touchdown scorer bets

Brian Robinson over 33.5 rushing yards (-120)

Line available at DraftKings Sportsbook at the time of publishing.

After watching what Dameon Pierce did to the middle of that Eagles’ defense, I’m doubling down on Brian Robinson for his breakout game this season. The Eagles are desperately missing DT Jordan Davis in the middle of that D-line and it showed last Thursday against Houston. They’re allowing 5.4 yards per carry and 9.3 rushing first downs per game over the last three games. This all sets up well for the bruising Brian Robinson and the Commanders’ approach to keeping the Eagles offense off the field. Robinson has seen double-digit carries in 3 of his 5 games and should get close to that 10 number again on Monday night. 1U.
