Denver Broncos vs Las Vegas Raiders predictions, odds, spreads & betting lines: Raiders can grab first win

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams (17) celebrates his touch down with quarterback Derek Carr (4) during the second quarter at Nissan Stadium Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022, in Nashville, Tennessee.

The AFC West was expected to be a real powerhouse in the NFL this season, but neither the Denver Broncos nor the Las Vegas Raiders has had the start they would have wanted. The Broncos have been one of the biggest disappointments in the league so far, compiling a 2-1 record but not looking at all like the Super Bowl contenders they were touted to be after the arrival of new quarterback Russell Wilson.

The Raiders are also under pressure as they head into Week 4 as the only winless team in the league after losses to the Chargers, Cardinals and Titans. Those teams are all also expected to be in the playoff hunt, but the Silver & Black won’t be happy until they have their first win on the board, and this important divisional matchup is the ideal time for it to arrive. Let’s take a more in-depth look at the game and our expert predictions for Broncos vs Raiders.

NFL Week 4 Denver Broncos vs Las Vegas Raiders prediction

New Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett is already coming under pressure despite his team winning 2 of his first 3 games as they haven’t looked great in any of them yet. The Broncos were expected to look like real Super Bowl contenders with Wilson added to a roster that seemed to have everything except an elite QB, but that has not been the case. They looked poor when losing to Wilson’s former team, the Seahawks, in Week 1, and while they managed to get wins over the Texans and 49ers in the following games, the standard of football on display has been far below expectations.

The Raiders have more excuses for not impressing to this point, as they have faced a higher standard of opposition, and had chances to win all 3 of their games against strong teams in the Chargers, Cardinals and Titans. But you can’t pay the bills with close losses, and Raider fans are already sniping at head coach Josh McDaniels, who has yet to earn the results that were expected when the club dispensed with the services of interim coach Rich Bisaccia. A win over the Broncos would be the perfect remedy to calm the anxiety in the Black Hole.

Denver Broncos vs Las Vegas Raiders expert picks

We’ve got some great NFL picks for this week’s game between the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders, including spread, total and player prop selections.

Against the spread pick: Raiders -2.5 (-110) over Broncos

The Las Vegas Raiders are the only NFL team yet to win a game this season, but they are favorites for their Week 4 matchup against the Denver Broncos and that looks to be the correct decision. None of their losses has been by more than 6 points, and the Broncos are extremely fortunate to be 2-1. They almost lost to the Texans as big favorites in Week 2, and overcame the 49ers by 1 point last week in a terrible game of football.

This is already something of a last stand for the Raiders if they want to get into the playoff race, and in their first home game this season they led virtually the whole game against the Cardinals before a late collapse led to an overtime loss. Denver’s offense is yet to find its rhythm and things aren’t as bad in Las Vegas as their record suggests.

Over/Under totals pick: Under 45.5 points (-107)

The struggling Broncos offense is the best reason to take the under in this game. Through 3 games, they’ve yet to score more than 16 points and they haven’t even been going up against strong defenses. There are excuses for struggling against San Francisco, but they should have looked a lot better against the Seahawks and Texans.

This is a division rivalry game between two teams who desperately need a win and it could turn into a slug-fest. The Raiders play at a slow pace and have offensive issues of their own. Hunter Renfrow missed last week’s game and Davante Adams has caught only 7 passes for 48 yards over the past 2 games. Expect points to come at a premium.

Broncos vs Raiders prop bet pick: Darren Waller (Raiders) – Over 18.5 receiving yards (-121)

Raiders tight end Darren Waller has hit this mark for receiving yards in 2 of the team’s 3 games. He’s feeling the benefits of Davante Adams drawing a lot of attention from opposing defenses. A fifth of his targets are on plays of 20+ yards and 26% are between 10-19 yards, so nearly half his targets (3 per game) put this line in play. His avrage depth of target is 13 yards with  6.8 yards after catch per reception. Waller has also gone over this mark in 4 straight games against the Broncos.
