KBO power rankings: Doosan Bears ready for second chance

KBO Power Jung Hoo Lee KBO DFS slate June 2

The 2020 KBO regular season is officially two months into play. Some teams are starting to rise back to the top, while others continue to fall down the standings. Make sure to check out our daily KBO Picks for free insider advice and analysis as well. Let’s dive into our new KBO Power Rankings below for the week of June 29.

1. NC Dinos (32-14)

After losing six of nine games, the NC Dinos have bounced back well, winning five of their last seven. After winning another series against the Doosan Bears, the Dinos are still favorites to win it all.

2. Kiwoom Heroes (30-18)

The Kiwoom Heroes will be watched heavily in week eight with the opportunity to claim the  no.1 spot in the standings. Last week, the Heroes went 5-1 with impressive wins against the Twins and Tigers. With one of the best pitching rotations in the league, it would be no surprise if the Heroes continue to dominate this week.

3. Doosan Bears (28-19)

Everything was lined up for the Bears to jump to the top spot in the standings last, week but they only managed to win one game out of the three-game series against the NC Dinos. However, they do get a second chance with a three-game series against the Kiwoom Heroes starting on Tuesday.

4. LG Twins (27-20)

After multiple winning weeks, the LG Twins have fallen off the pace. The freefall started with getting swept by the Doosan Bears and Kiwoom Heroes last week. The Twins losing streak reached a high of seven before getting back into the win column. Could another plummet be on the horizon for the Twins? Possibly.

5. Kia Tigers (24-21)

Like the LG Twins, the Kia Tigers have a ton of potential, especially on the pitching side. However, going 1-3 this past week with a reduced offensive output will not get the job done.

6. Samsung Lions (24-24)

The Lions have climbed back to a .500 winning percentage after successful series wins against the Eagles and Giants. With another winnable series on the horizon this week against the Wyverns, expect the Lions to continue their climb in the rankings.

7. KT Wiz (21-26)

The Wiz made a considerable jump in our KBO Power Rankings because of their impressive +16 in run differential this past week. The Wiz hold a minus eight-run differential on the season and could be in striking distance to even that out this week. With the Twins and Heroes on the schedule, this is a massive week for the Wiz.

8. Lotte Giants (22-23)

The Lotte Giants stay in every game thanks to their superior pitching. Unfortunately, they collapse late in each game because of their weak hitting. Until the Giants can find the power in their bats, playoffs are entirely out of the equation.

9. SK Wyverns (14-33)

Even though the Wyverns had massive upset wins against the Bears and Twins this past week, the time has past to enter back into the playoff mix. Winning three of their last 17 games has sealed their fate.

10. Hanwha Eagles (12-36)

The fireworks will have to wait another week for the Hanwha Eagles. The worst team in the league has yet to have a single winning week in the 2020 KBO regular season. At this rate, it may never happen.

Be sure to check out our June 30 KBO three-team parlay that pays out +433, including the must-watch game between the NC Dinos and Lotte Giants.
