The 2021 NFL season has been epic so far. Now we’ll be treated to another full slate of exciting games this Sunday for Week 8. We have an NFC South matchup here as the Atlanta Falcons host the Carolina Panthers. Both teams need this game like blood. What better way to make this pivotal division rivalry game even more exciting than by betting a same game parlay? We also have thoughts on the side and total for every Week 8 matchup, of course, which you can view in our NFL picks tab.

But for now let’s dive into this same game parlay:

Atlanta Falcons -13.5 (+340)

Sam Darnold over 10.5 rushing yards (-120)

Same Game Parlay odds: +850

We have a 2-leg same game parlay which pays out just north of 8/1 with FanDuel Sportsbook. Let’s break it down:

Atlanta Falcons -13.5 (+340)

To start this same game parlay off we have the Falcons on an alternative spread. I think there’s a very good chance Atlanta wins this one going away. The Falcons got off to a slow start, which is understandable considering they were adjusting to new offensive and defensive coordinators. Now that they’re getting acclimated, the offense is starting to take off under Arthur Smith. In each of their past three games, the Falcons have put up at least 27 points.

They’ve won three of four, and the only loss in that span was a game they led almost the entire way against Washington. On the flip side, the Panthers are an absolute dumpster fire. They’ve lost four games in a row, and it’s clear now their 3-0 start was fraudulent. Those three wins came against the Jets, Texans, and a depleted Saints team.

Sam Darnold over 10.5 rushing yards (-120)

We get a big odds boost by combining this with the first leg of our same game parlay. But I don’t think it conflicts much. All we need is one decent scramble from Darnold to cash this. He’s been struggling mightily in the passing game lately, so I think Carolina’s coaches will draw up a designed run or two to try to help him. Darnold also just hasn’t been seeing the field well, which will lead him to take off and try to scramble if he isn’t finding receivers. Darnold going over his rushing total could actually be better for the Falcons, since it could mean he isn’t having any success throwing.
